Future Parks Engagement

A summary of the results of the surveys undertaken at Doncaster Future Parks sites, as well as an update on what has been happening since consultation work began, can be found below.
Town Field
The engagement work highlighted that the community would like to see improved lighting on site and therefore a solar lighting scheme will be implemented this year.
Enhancements to points of access, improved signage and notices will also be implemented in the coming months across the park.
Following on from engagement with residents, who expressed an interest in this, there is a new community group starting at Town Field to develop activities and events on the park. If you are local to the area and interested in getting involved with this work then please contact us for more information.

Campsall Country Park
Improvements to the park will include enhanced walking routes, improvements to the entrances, signage and interpretation boards on site, as well as better linking together the leisure centre and the park to increase access to both, and create one 'active environment' for residents and other visitors to enjoy.
The Friends of Campsall Country Park have collaborated with the Future Parks project and are leading on a number of activities and events for the community to enjoy. The engagement work highlighted that the community would like to see improvements to address the perception of safety and to enhance the parks accessibility. Therefore, improvements to the park will include opening up sightlines, adding more lighting and improving the signage around the park.
The Friends of Hexthorpe Flatts are a key stakeholder in the Future Parks work; they arrange events and activities on site including a fireworks display and community tree planting. For further information on how to get involved, please visit:

The Crags
Work has already taken place to open up sightlines on The Crags to help people feel more safe. In 2023, improvements to entrances, enhanced walking routes and new signage and seating will all take place. There will also be an audio trail available to access on site - which can already be accessed online here: Crags audio guides.
In addition to the Future Parks funding, a further £200,000 worth of investment is set to improve a number of the footpaths across the site (from active travel funding).
The Friends of the Crags have been a key partner to the Future Parks project; they have developed a number of activities and events supporting both the park and the community as well as their own projects, interpreting the unique history of the site in various ways.
