Norton pupils crowned Doncaster swimming champions

Pupils from Norton Junior School have been crowned Doncaster champions at a swimming gala held between twelve school teams.

They take the champions' trophy back to their school having beaten eleven other teams to take the title.

The contest took place at Adwick Leisure Complex, which is run by Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust (DCLT).

It pitched the teams, from schools which all use DCLT centres to provide swimming lessons for their pupils, against each other in a number of different races across the competition.

Ryan Scott, swimming development officer at DCLT, said: "Congratulations to all the young stars who took part in the gala. They all did themselves proud by giving their best and representing their schools with pride.

"Norton Junior School did enough to take the trophy this time, but were pushed by all the other teams from across Doncaster.

"It just goes to show what talent we have here and we look forward to welcoming these pupils to our centres as they continue to develop as swimmers."

Warmsworth Primary A and B, Montagu Primary, Norton Primary, Barnburgh Primary, Owston Primary, Sunnyfields Primary, St Joseph's & St Theresa's Primary, Auckley

Primary, Morley Place Primary, Windhill Primary, Townfields Primary and Warmsworth Primary B all took to the blocks hoping to claim the trophy.

They had already competed in a number of heats over the past few months to earn their places in the final.

Those were won by Warmsworth Primary A, Montagu Primary and Norton Primary.
