I enjoy cycling because it clears my head, it renews my mind. I got into cycling through a friend of mine. I just fell in love with it and decided to contact the council and took lessons (with Pedal Ready).
Doncaster has lots of opportunities for residents to get cycling! Whether you are an experienced cyclist or just starting out, there is something for everyone in Doncaster, and great support available for those who are just starting out.
Free cycle training with Pedal Ready
Pedal Ready host free adult and family cycle training from Woodfield Park and Sandall Park. The training is for everyone - from complete beginners, to experienced cyclists who want to refresh their skills.
Pedal Ready can help you:
- Learn how to ride a bike
- Improve your skills to cycle safely on the road
- Get advice about the best routes to cycle to your work/school

Visit the cycle track
Doncaster Culture & Leisure Trust (DCLT) host a cycle track, located at the rear of Doncaster Dome. Bikes can be loaned to anyone to be used at the cycle track.
All abilities are welcome from beginners looking for a safe traffic free environment, to confident cyclists practicing for an event. There is also a fleet of adapted cycles to accommodate the needs of all participants.
The cycle track is now home to Wheels for All Doncaster, an inclusive cycling programme that embraces all children and adults with disabilities and differing needs to engage with quality cycling activity, using adapted cycles such as handcycles, trikes and wheelchair transporter to assist in building confidence and independence in cycling.

Join a cycling club/group
There are many clubs/groups within the borough that offer group cycling opportunities on a regular basis throughout Doncaster. Here are some local groups to get you started:
Support for workplaces
Dr Bike offers free service and safety check for bikes at workplaces in Doncaster. Carried out by a fully trained mechanic, drop-in sessions include a full cycle safety check and advice, free minor on-the-spot repairs or referral to the nearest bike shop where needed.
As part of the service, Dr Bike will tune gears and brakes, ensure chains are clean and lubricated, inflate tyres, repair punctures and replace unsafe parts.
