Doncaster is renowned for successfully hosting several major sporting events. The Get Doncaster Moving team have played an important role in both securing and delivering these events for Doncaster residents, bringing numerous benefits to the borough.
In recent years Doncaster has:
- Hosted the UCI Road World Championships, 2019
- Hosted part of the Tour de Yorkshire events in 2016, 2018 and 2019
- In 2022, Doncaster hosted three fixtures of the Rugby League World Cup.
