Be a Sporting Superhero this summer holiday!

Calling all families! If you are looking for free activities this summer holidays then look no further as Doncaster Mumbler have teamed up with Get Doncaster Moving to encourage kids to 'Be A Sporting Superhero'. Families can visit nine locations across Doncaster to take the Sporting Superhero challenge by finding and completing all five warm up challenges.

The warm up challenges are set by five friendly sporting kids characters which will be hidden around nine locations as well as being available at Elmfield Park on the 6th August at Doncaster Pride. A sixth character will also be available at each site encouraging participants to take a 'sporting selfie' for the chance to be entered into a competition to win tickets to sporting events around Doncaster.

The five warm up challenges are suitable for children of all ages and abilities and aim to keep kids outdoors and active during the summer holidays, igniting an interest in playing sport and inspiring them to be a sporting superhero themselves.

'Be A Sporting Superhero' will be available for families to visit throughout the summer holidays from the 23rd July – 4th September at Sandall Park, Hexthorpe Park, Dunsville Quarry Park, Welfare Park Stainforth, Lakeside Village, Thorne Memorial Park, Denaby Memorial Park, Cusworth Hall Park and Campsall Country Park.

As well as completing the warm up challenges, there are lots of other fun, sporting themed activities for kids to enjoy at home on the Doncaster Mumbler website. Activities include colouring sheets, sports puzzle sheet, keep fit name game and more!

"We're delighted to be able to offer children and families a fun, free activity to enjoy over the summer holiday at a number of locations across the borough. The 'Be a Sporting Superhero' trail will encourage children to be active and enjoy our parks and open spaces, as well as inspiring them to have a go at a sport. With so many sporting events returning in 2022 such as Wimbledon and the Commonwealth Games as well as the Rugby League World Cup being hosted in Doncaster, there has never been a better opportunity to inspire the younger generation to get active." Councillor Nigel Ball, Portfolio Holder for Public Health, Leisure, Culture and Planning and Chair of the Get Doncaster Moving Advisory Board.

"Helping families in Doncaster has always been at the heart of Doncaster Mumbler. Our latest campaign for families sees the creation of 5 new kids characters who are setting our warm up challenges. We wanted the characters to be as inclusive and inspirational as possible to encourage all children to take part in the challenge.

On the Doncaster Mumbler website there will be links to how to get involved in one of the five sports featured (football, rugby, cycling, swimming and tennis) through playing or watching. We want to encourage families to make use of our open space at parks, playgrounds shared spaces in the area and promote our wealth of local facilities, introducing our local sporting teams and sporting heroes." says Caroline from Doncaster Mumbler.
