- 11.30am – Family bike ride – explore the beautiful Trans Pennine Trail on a guided bike ride.
- 1pm – The Wonders of Walking – an easy five-mile walk and talk with TV celebrity Andrew White.
There will be lots of other fun things for the whole family to get involved in, including free bicycle safety checks, a circus skills workshop, treasure hunt, face painting, stalls, prizes and much more!
The event will also see the launch of the Get Doncaster Moving Walking Strategy which aims for Doncaster to be a place where walking is an integral part of every day life.
Andrew White, presenter and producer of the TV series Walks Around Britain, is leading a short walk and talk on the day. He said: "I love walking in my home town of Doncaster, and this section along the massive Trans Pennine Trail is among my favourite walks in Donny. It's really important to get out walking, and it doesn't have to be complicated or different. You don't have to go the Lake District and eat Kendal Mint Cake or wear lots of expensive gear… and I'll be chatting on the walk about great places to visit and the best gear to get. It'll be a great day."
Nigel Ball, Doncaster Council Cabinet Member for Public Health and Leisure, said: "Sprotbrough Lock is right on the Trans Pennine Trail and a fantastic spot to explore the local countryside, either on foot or by bicycle. Walking is an ideal way to keep active and is great for your mental health too. With the launch of the walking strategy i'd like to see more residents walking, both in their day-to-day lives and for fun."
Don't forget to bring along your bike for a FREE Dr Bike safety check worth up to £30!
