AVA BROWN, DOUBLE BRITISH BMX CHAMPION
Posted: Wed, 11 Mar 2020 13:46
Ava Brown is a 15-year-old student studying at Hungerhill School in Doncaster. She started BMX at the age of nine and is now a double BMX British Champion at her age group (2018 & 2019).
Ava has to juggle a full BMX training programme around her education. She trains every evening after school and during the weekends. She spends one day a week training at the British Cycling BMX National School of Racing in Manchester training with Odum Racing National Squad. Ava has also travelled around Europe competing in Belgium, France, Italy and Holland.
Ava would not be where she is today without the support of her dad, Russ and the rest of her family. Russ is also the Chairman and head coach at Doncaster BMX Club where Ava started her journey. He takes Ava to all competitions and training sessions around the country and around the world.
Ava's journey has not been easy, in the last 6 years she has had many broken bones including a broken elbow twice, a broken wrist and a broken femur.
Russ told us "This has not stopped her love and passion for the sport and she has bounced back every time. Ava's main goal is to join the British cycling team, then to train towards the World Championships, or even for the Olympics".
Doncaster BMX Club has over 80 members ageing from three to 55+. The club welcomes people of all abilities to learn the sport. Training is on Saturday mornings at 10:30am at Astrea Academy Woodfields. For more information:
