Doncaster Future Park shortlisted for Green Flag ‘Best of the Best’ Award

Hexthorpe Park was recently shortlisted in the Green Flag 'Best of the Best' awards, which recognize excellence in parks and green spaces.

The 'Best Initiative to Engage and Increase Use of Parks by Women and Girls' award submission shared information on the improvements that are being made to Hexthorpe Park as part of the Doncaster Future Parks programme, and specifically the partnership work between the Council's Get Doncaster Moving team and Doncaster College, to engage young people in parks and open spaces.

This partnership led to the design and installation of a social seating space at Hexthorpe Park, designed by one of their students, Nathan, which was created with young people in mind. The social seating space is of course an asset to the park that everyone can enjoy.

The winners were announced at a virtual ceremony on Thursday 14th November. The winner of the award category went to Van Ward Allotments. The ceremony can be watched on You Tube: https://youtu.be/mpGshDsfeGo?feature=shared
