Campsall Country Park is renowned for its rich and diverse woodlands and a variety of things to see and do, including play areas, beautiful scenery including meadows, ponds and wildflower areas, walking routes and playing fields. The park has a Green Flag Award, which recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces.
As a result of the feedback from our community engagement work, the following investments are being made to the site. If you are using a desktop, you can hover over the interactive points on the map to discover more detail. If you are using a mobile phone, the information will be displayed underneath the map for ease of access.
Integrated access with Askern Leisure Centre
Careful consideration has been given to ensuring that the recently refurbished Askern Leisure Centre is linked closely with the park, increasing access to both, and creating one 'active environment' for residents and visitors to enjoy. As well as the leisure centre's fitness facilities, the centre also has a café, toilet facilities and car parking which is open to the public. The design of the entrance point between the leisure centre and park has been carefully considered to link the two spaces together, supported by complimentary features within the park such as seating and signage.
Seating areas
The number of seating areas at Campsall Country Park will increase, including two bespoke benches produced from timber sourced on site.
Footpath improvements
There is a network of footpaths across the site. The central footpath, which provides access to the leisure centre, Askern and Campsall is being resurfaced. Two bridges within the park are being upgraded, to allow for maintenance vehicles to access the site safely, meaning the site can be better cared for going forward.
Walking trails
A range of walking trails have been identified on the soon to be installed signage at key entrance points. This is further supported by new way marking posts on the routes. Each of the walks explore different areas within the park and allows for visitors to experience a number of different habitats, from woodlands to varied grasslands.
Open up site lines
To help make Campsall Country Park feel more safe and open, certain areas that previously felt isolated and hidden from view have been opened up so that visitors have clearer views across some areas of the park. This has included a higher standard of maintenance on key routes.
Signage and interpretation
Improvements to signage will be made at the main entrances to the park. New signage and interpretation panels will help guide visitors around the park, whilst also sharing some of the park's rich history.
